Our story

Forever Angels Family Homes provides interim care for orphaned and abandoned babies in Tanzania.

Children live in one of four Family Homes on our large compound, with a Mama, Aunt and up to seven siblings.  The focus is on reuniting orphaned and abandoned children with their relatives who we enable to provide life-long care. After years of experience and development, Forever Angels found that many cases of child abandonment could be prevented by empowering the families themselves within the community. Maisha Matters was born as a way to work closely with at risk families, providing nutrition and education so families can live independently.

Meanwhile Forever Angels cares for abandoned babies temporarily until biological relatives or a foster or adoptive family can be found. We have four Family Homes, a Pre-school, and a Sensory Room for Special Needs children.

Caring for At Risk Children

The emphasis is upon high quality interim FAMILY STYLE care and our goal is for every child to leave us, to be raised in a loving family.

80% of the children who enter our care have returned to live with their biological families or have been adopted into new families.

This is highly indicative of the success of Forever Angels and the excellent relationships that have been established with the local community and services.

Children live in loving, family homes with a focus on building secure attachments. They spend their days with their Mamas or at Pre-school doing stimulating activities such as music, dancing, water play, painting, building, sports and all the other activities that children love, which helps them become fully rounded individuals and able to meet their developmental milestones.

Special Needs

We care for children with Special Needs within our Family Homes, and we have a range of specialised equipment and Staff who are specifically trained to work daily with these children, helping them to reach their potentials.

We provide physiotherapy, one to one time in our purpose-built Sensory Room, record their progress and plan future targets.

Empowering Women

Forever Angels is recognised as an excellent local employer and is a popular place to work. Our staff are all local Tanzanians and 85% are women so we are helping to empower a marginalised section of society.

We offer continuous training to our staff and almost all have participated in training courses in Child Care, Special Needs, Food and Hygiene, Dental Hygiene, HIV and First Aid. This training is often used with their own children and also passed on to their villages and communities and so extending the reach.

Volunteer ethically with us

We believe in ethical volunteering.  Our children live in family homes and our goal is for them to build secure attachments to their Mamas.  We do not have volunteers coming to simply ‘play’ with the children.  We love to have qualified and experienced volunteers who can come to train our staff and make lasting impact.

Together, we’re preventing child abandonment

We work closely with Tanzanian families and through holistic support, we empower them to care for their own children.  The goal is to prevent children being abandoned and having to be placed in an orphanage.
